The Firefighter Museum was something that was on my list of activities for the summer so we headed down there since they opened at 9. The Firestation was the first one in Dallas. They have an old firetruck that kids can put on gear, unroll the house, and pretend to fight a fire. They can also pretend to drive the truck. They also have old firetrucks that were pulled by horses, old fire hydrants, and the original pole in that station. It was very interesting to hear the history but the kids really aren't into that. Besides, Brec was really more excited about the train musuem. So after getting my money's worth, we headed across the street to the trains. Brec immediately said, "There's the Big Boy!" We were given a tour by a kid who was probably 12 or so. He had his engineer hat on just like Brec. Brec was tagging along with him asking him questions. I think that Brec threw him off his game because most kids don't know that much about the museum. Brec got to "drive" the steam engine and had the boy ring the bell on the old steam engine. I think that Brec will really enjoy it when the museum finally moves to its new home in Frisco.
