Today we went to the Dallas Zoo to celebrate Brec's first day without school. He was so excited to get to go and is looking forward to more visits since we became zoo members this year. We started out by going to the Giants of the Savannah exhibit. We got to see the elephants, giraffes, red river hogs, and guerrillas. The giraffes were not eating so Brec didn't get to feed them or pet them. That was disappointing but we will try again next time. The lion and the cheetah were very active though. We also saw the Okapi which we learned has a tongue long enough to clean out its ear--must be related to Brec who has a tongue long enough to clean out his nose.
One really neat thing that they have done is put a safari jeep that is in the cheetah's exhibit but also on the outside where kids can "drive" it. The cheetah came into the bed of the jeep to eat.
Brec took this picture of Ashton. He looked so cute.
We rode the Monorail Safari which was wonderful to see more animals like the zebra. We were very hot and sweaty at that point and Brec even told me that my hair looked bad.
